Pefkides Aegina Boutique Apartments

The view from the apartments at the highest point of Aghia Marina is amazing and takes in the whole village. But with room quality this low and hosts this inadequate, that beauty goes to waste. Probably the worst apartment we've stayed in. It even made us wonder whether online reviews are genuine. When we called on arrival, the hosts seemed almost unsure who we were. Nobody was there, and they told us to find the cleaning lady and ask if she had our keys. We'd agreed and confirmed our arrival and paid a deposit. The bed was horribly uncomfortable, with a mattress that must have been from the 80s and just one tiny pillow. I had to use my own inflatable beach pillow to sleep properly. The shower screen didn't keep water in, so the bathroom flooded when we showered, and the toilet was wedged into such a narrow spot it was impossible to sit comfortably. There was visible damage in the room, including lights that didn't work and cabinet doors hanging loose. Appliances were dirty from the previous guests. I mentioned this to the host on the first day. She seemed surprised and unaware, and none of it was fixed. We had to carry our own suitcases, water and everything else, with nobody there to help. An older woman who lives in a permanent apartment made inappropriate remarks as we passed with heavy things. When we left the room, the cleaning lady would come in, apparently just to turn off the air conditioning rather than clean. Shame on you Pefkides Boutique Apartments. You're an embarrassment to Aegina and to Greek tourism.

We had a wonderful stay at Pefkides. Our spacious room had a great view, and Kyparisia was so accommodating that she made the stay very pleasant. Our dog, Kali, loved the garden and playing with Daisy. Just keep in mind the apartment is on a hill, so a car or scooter would make getting around easier.

The sea views from the rooms are wonderful, and everything was very clean and well equipped. We also appreciated the lovely garden and the free parking nearby. We had a wonderful stay at Pefkides, thanks to the kind, helpful staff. We highly recommend staying here!

The balcony has a great view, and the host was always kind and ready with help or advice. Inside, the rooms were clean, well equipped, and had comfortable beds. The toilets are a little cramped, though, and I’d suggest adding shower curtains.
