The Theodore Boutique Hotel

For the past three years, we’ve returned to The Theodore for stays of 7-10 days. The rooms, food, and service are all top quality, and the staff are so warm. It’s our little Eden in Crete, where we can properly relax and recharge. One of Greece’s finest spots, and a rare gem.

What made our 14th anniversary stay at Theodore so special was how thoughtfully the family welcomed us. Before we arrived, they asked if we were celebrating anything. At check-in there was a card, fresh fruit, and chilled bubbly in the fridge, followed by a surprise cocktail at the beach bar on the anniversary itself. They were attentive, kind, generous, and genuinely happy to have guests. It felt like a fantastic example of what a boutique hotel should be. The hotel’s own beach area is reserved for guests, with plenty of comfortable sunbeds. The sand is golden and clean, and the water clear and turquoise. The beach bar serves snacks, meals, and cocktails until 10 pm, handy for a long day by the sea. Breakfast is practically an occasion in itself: generous portions, fresh ingredients, beautiful presentation, and everything was sumptuous and ultra-delicious. The Greek yogurt was probably the best we’ve ever had. Our spacious room faced the street but stayed quiet. It had a great shower, a very comfortable bed, and air conditioning placed just right. Mediterranean charm and Nordic minimalism come together in the hotel’s calm, stylish design. The area around it is lively, with shops, markets, and restaurants within walking distance, and free public parking was easy to find nearby. Housekeeping was impeccable; most mornings the room seemed magically refreshed while we were at breakfast. Theodore exceeded our expectations and gave us beautiful anniversary memories.

A quiet beach escape, with professional, efficient staff and a great breakfast. There are lots of restaurants nearby, and they can help arrange taxi services if you need transportation. Great for a few days away by the sea!

Our stay at the Theodore Boutique Hotel is sadly over, but it was a wonderful experience, full of Cretan hospitality, delicious food, a serene atmosphere, and thoughtful attention to detail.
