Villa Elizea

The hosts are such kind, lovely people. When we arrived there was fresh fruit and a couple of bottles of water waiting in the room. The hotel feels very old fashioned, but it has everything you need for a week or two. There's a balcony, though no sea view, and the air conditioning works perfectly. The beach is 100 m away.

Hair and sand were left in the shower and on the vanity shelf, and the rooms were dirty and hadn't even been cleaned. I found some spray and bleach there and had to clean a little myself. The rooms were ugly, too. I can't understand the good reviews for a place that doesn't clean between guests. I don't think that's even allowed during a pandemic. This was the worst place I've ever stayed, after travelling to many different places. It's not safe, and not even broke students should stay here. I'm shocked it hasn't been shut down. Disgusting, I didn't enjoy it at all. Thank God we were only there for three nights. We spent the rest of our holiday in a beautiful village where people were hospitable, clean (!) and very friendly. Otherwise, the uncomfortable accommodation would have ruined my holiday in magical Crete.

The couple who hosted us were the kindest, most caring people I've met in all my years of travelling. Elizea's hospitality and her husband's attention to the decorations really show in how beautiful the place is. The villa is the prettiest around, with tall flowers and decorative objects, and it has a homey feeling and is very clean. We had everything we needed in the room, plus a lovely balcony to relax on and the bonus of an umbrella. The beach is easy to get to, just across the street, and the rooftop, shaded by delicious grapes, is a lovely place to look out over the open sea. We first booked 8 days, then added a couple more because we loved it so much. It gave us the peace and rest we needed.

The people were friendly, but the rooms were dirty and old and really need redecorating. Maybe it's not expensive, but it still wasn't worth the money. The bathroom was terrible.
