Our apartment had everything we needed, and over three days it really felt like home. The host was friendly and made us feel very welcome. Agia Roumeli is a lovely spot at the foot of Samaria gorge, with the sea to the south and goat bells tinkling in the mountains behind. Highly recommended, no complaints.

We liked it so much we ended up staying for more than three months. The family running the place are wonderful hosts, and everything was clean and comfortable. It’s near the beach, Samaria gorge and lots of walking routes. They also run a four day program from here called The Samaria Experience, which I highly recommend for getting a real feel for Crete.

A quiet holiday away from the crowds is easy here. The hotel is very relaxing, and the clean, pleasant studios sleep up to five people. It’s only 30 metres from the lovely beach at Agia Roumeli. The Viglis family, who own it, are very welcoming, and they have a restaurant 100 metres away.

The service was friendly and efficient, and there’s a small supermarket close by. The studios are simple, clean, comfortable and have good WiFi, with everything adequately equipped. They’re set back from the seafront, though some have nice sea views. The balcony gives you extra room and is a pleasant place to sit.

Athena, the manager, was really accommodating. The loft studios are lovely, with marble floors, and they’re tucked into a quiet corner of a village that’s already peaceful. Great value for the price.
