Sandy Suites

I picked Sandy Suites in Chania for the pool and kitchen, but my experience with the customer service representative, who seems to be the owner, was very bad. She was like an angel while we were booking, then got angry when we asked questions. Pool use was limited to 9 am to 6 pm, and when we were swimming, she immediately came over shouting at us to get out. I couldn’t enjoy the beautiful sunset by the pool. The room was poorly equipped. Some rooms had a rack for drying clothes, but not all. The shower water was sometimes cold. When I asked about it, the owner got angry and said, “What do you want from me?” She made strange faces and waved her hands too. Another person later advised me to let the tap run for 2 minutes and try again. She could have just told me that. The kitchen was missing many essentials. My room had an induction stove but only an aluminum pan. When I asked if there was a suitable pan, the owner shouted, “Do I have to go buy a new pan from the store now?” She could have simply said there wasn’t another kind of pan. She eventually became so angry that she tried to take the stove out of my room, saying, “You’re on vacation, go out to eat!” That seemed unnecessary, since I chose an apartment hotel specifically for the kitchen. I was afraid of her and found it better to ask other customers for advice. Our neighbor said breakfast cost 15 euros. I heard from neighbors what it included and never ordered it. For that price, you could get a large portion of grilled food at a nearby restaurant. It’s a beautiful location and the place could be recommendable, but the hostess was terrible. Beautiful setting, poorly equipped room, and an irritated hostess.

The room needed quite a few things, including pans, washing-up soap, a brush for dishes, and a shower curtain. The beds and pillows were very hard, so we didn’t sleep very comfortably. The hotel itself is nicely located, within walking distance of a bus stop, mini markets, and restaurants. We were greeted by two lovely hosts. One checked us in and the other showed us to our room, which made for a very good start.

The location was lovely, quiet, with a good sea view and easy access to buses. Service started with a warm welcome, but later the staff were passive-aggressive when we took our room towels to the pool. We had no idea that wasn’t allowed. There was general information in the rooms, but nothing about towels and the pool. They could have approached us more nicely. The room had the basics, though more kitchen items, plates, and soap would have helped. There was no shower curtain, so water got everywhere, and the bathroom could have used shelves for toothbrushes and such. There were bugs everywhere. We also had to buy toilet paper and soap because none had been provided. The beds were very hard, and we could easily hear the guests next door.

Sandy suites was a small, peaceful place, and we had a really nice week there. Sandy, the owner, was warm-hearted and made us feel very welcome. The pool was a good size, with sunshine on it all day. Markets and restaurants are within walking distance. The closest beach wasn’t the prettiest, but you could swim there. A bus stops along the beach road near the hotel if you want to go into Chania city. I’d definitely stay here again!
