The gardens are lovely, but I came away disappointed and wouldn’t return. It looked stylish at first, especially the new block room, which seemed clean and modern. The welcome was lacklustre, and we were only shown part of the way to the room. Then, after a swim, we came back to find there was no electricity. We reported it and were told someone would come within an hour, but nobody did. It was fixed while we were out that evening. The key card magnet in the switch was faulty, and since the electrician had no replacement, they removed it. That worked for us. The room had a mini fridge, but it was noisy enough that we unplugged it at night. There was no kettle, cups, or even a bathroom glass for brushing teeth, and no hairdryer. The beds were uncomfortable, probably cheap mattresses. The shower was awkward to get in and out of because the toilet was so close. Two small towel hooks weren’t enough to hold, let alone dry, four towels. A glass door to the bedroom let in lots of morning light from the east-facing window. We’re not early risers, especially on holiday. There was a safe-looking device in the wardrobe, but reception didn’t explain it and there were no instructions. Later we found a tiny override key with our room key, which is fine unless it’s dark. The public areas were a bit worn, the sunloungers tired and uncomfortable, and the pool was often unclean and full of insects. The bar had a menu but no snacks, and staff availability there was sporadic. One night they held a wedding that went past 4am and was extremely loud. Guests and staff were tired and grumpy the next morning, and even getting a coffee was difficult. We ended up having lunches and so on at the Ananais across the road, where we were warmly welcomed. I’d recommend it. There were no handrails on the accommodation block stairs, which is a safety issue if you have mobility problems, a child with you, or a suitcase to carry.

We felt at home as soon as we arrived. The place has lots of character and feels genuinely Greek, with greenery all around, a pristine pool, and a delicious breakfast each morning. Our room was simple but very practical, and impeccably clean. In the summer heat, the air conditioning was a real help. Housekeeping came every day, which was such a nice touch. This isn’t somewhere to choose for luxury, but it’s a calm, charming place with soul. We absolutely adored our stay and will be back. It’s become our little safe haven.

Avoid this property. I would not risk staying here. Blue Sea Hotel, Corfu (Argyrades Beach), August-September 2025. After more than nine years of travelling to Corfu, this was by far my worst and most unsafe experience. There seemed to be no structure or management from the moment I arrived, and no one visibly responsible for the property during my stay. It felt unsupervised, including during a power outage and flooding. Staff didn’t know where emergency supplies were. There were no candles or first aid kit, and no guest register in case of an evacuation. They laughed about what was happening instead of dealing with it professionally. Staffing was dangerously inadequate. At one point an underage girl was serving alcohol behind the bar without supervision, which raises serious safeguarding concerns. There was also inappropriate conduct between staff and guests, making the place uncomfortable and unprofessional. Food hygiene was shocking: food left out for days, flies everywhere, and no sign of temperature checks or basic food safety. I saw no first aid provision or safety procedures. I didn’t feel safe eating there and spent most of my holiday avoiding the hotel. Guests’ room keys were left in the open at reception, with their names visible. That was a blatant breach of privacy and data protection under UK and EU GDPR. I have underlying health conditions, including HIV and peripheral neuropathy, which made it all even more distressing and dangerous. I left two days before my booking ended. When I got home, I found bites that developed into a medically confirmed ringworm infection, consistent with fungal exposure during the holiday. I live alone, don’t go out much in the UK, and have no other possible source of infection, so I believe it came from the hotel’s unhygienic conditions. I gave On the Beach, the company I booked through, details of my concerns. It took over two months of pushing before they responded properly. Despite the safety and hygiene failures, photographic evidence, and medical documents, they offered just a 10% refund. When it came through, it was actually 6%, an insulting response to what I consider a serious breach of safety, hygiene, and legal standards under the Package Travel Regulations 2018. The hotel falsely claimed this was just a case of expectations being too high. My complaint was about basic safety, cleanliness, and lawful standards not being met. Their claim that I thanked them as I left is also completely false. I left that note only so I could get away without confrontation, after feeling entirely unsafe as a solo traveller. No traveller should have to deal with dirty conditions, a lack of supervision or emergency procedures, unsafe food, data breaches, and then a medical infection. I’m now taking this matter further through regulatory bodies. I strongly advise people to avoid the property, and to question how major holiday providers continue selling it when it so clearly fails basic safety and hygiene standards.

The location worked well for us, about a five-minute walk to the main town centre and ten minutes to a nice sandy beach. I’d happily stay here again. Check-in was quick and efficient, and someone showed me to room C5. The room was clean and tidy, with a fridge, free AC, and a TV with some English channels. I could use the free WiFi from the balcony. I also liked the pool and never had trouble finding a sunbed. Breakfast was basic, though there was a good choice.

I don't think this place deserves all the 5/5 reviews. My main complaint is the room. I don't know whether the new building has insect screens, but the main building doesn't, so we had to keep the door shut and leave the very old, noisy air conditioner running all night. The fridge in our room was so loud that I thought a dog was barking outside. The beds were the hardest I've experienced on any of my trips to Greece. Julie at the desk was great, and breakfast was okay, but otherwise the atmosphere wasn't very friendly. This trip made me consider spending next summer's holiday somewhere other than Greece. We love the Greek islands, but it's so expensive there now!
