We booked 10 days at Cavo Petra in Methana for August 2025, paying 116€ a night without breakfast, and came away hugely disappointed. It felt overpriced and not family-friendly. The garden view was nice, but the owner’s sick cat had left feces scattered around. I had to keep watching so my toddler wouldn’t step in it. Inside, the room had no mosquito screens, and we dealt with insects every night. The room advertised for three was a double bed plus a sofa that couldn’t support an adult. The pillows and mattresses were poor quality, too. There was no mini-kitchen or sink, the fridge barely worked, and the water pressure was bad. When I raised that, the owner told me to ask the municipality. The door lock was faulty; when I asked for help, the owner brushed it off as squeaking from the heat. The website was misleading, with fake JavaScript pop-ups saying “someone else is booking right now.” Overpriced, deceptive and poorly maintained. Stay away.

Last autumn, 18 of us took part in a wellness retreat in the middle of nature, with total peace and relaxation. Our daily dips in the natural thermal springs and the Ancient Greek massage were special. We also enjoyed Greek food, fresh salads and local wine. We highly recommend it. We spent a month at Cavo Petra, and it felt like a peaceful hideaway surrounded by incredible nature. We’re vanlifers and digital nomads, travelling in our van with my partner. After adopting a puppy in Greece in November, the cold, rainy weather made us want a break from vanlife, somewhere quiet and comfortable where we could rest and give the little one some stability. Cavo Petra was just what we needed. Our room was spacious and cozy, with a lovely garden where we could take the puppy out at any hour. We could see the sea from the garden, and the area around us was beautiful for hikes across volcanic landscapes or along the coast. Methana, a charming little town 8 km away, became our regular place for shopping and cozy café stops. Galatas is 20 km away, and from there you can take a short ferry to the lovely island of Poros. Our hosts, Ioanna & Tony, were warm, welcoming and always helpful. We’d definitely recommend Cavo Petra to anyone wanting a quiet break to unwind and be close to nature. Sandra & Marcin

We felt renewed by the peaceful atmosphere, olive groves and meals made with fresh ingredients from the garden. The ancient Greek massage and daily time in nature helped us recharge. Exploring Methana was a joy, whether we were riding smooth e-bikes or walking the volcanic trails. It’s a hidden wellness paradise we discovered step by step.

The fresh garden food and nearby thermal springs rounded out a really ideal stay. This retreat in Methana gave us the total relaxation we wanted, with a breathtaking sea view and a tranquil setting among olive trees and aloe plants. The brand-new e-bikes made it easy to explore, from lush trails to scenic viewpoints.
