Aloha Hotel

I wasn’t a guest, but there was a sign saying you could use the pool for “free.” When my friends and I arrived, they told us we had to spend at least 10€ per person. The welcome felt so poor that we left right away. We would have spent even more, but after being told that, we didn’t feel welcome, so we chose another nice nearby place to swim. Wouldn’t recommend this place 👎🏽

The balcony view was stunning, especially at sunset, and the pool area was large and clean. Our room had a working AC and fridge, and the owner was very friendly and welcoming. But several things made the stay less comfortable. The furniture was very old, and the two single beds pushed together were hard and uncomfortable. There were no outlets near the beds, and the outdated hairdryer barely worked. Housekeeping came into the room while we were out without telling us. Breakfast was the same each day, mostly eggs with very little choice, and got repetitive quickly. Most inconvenient of all, the Wi-Fi didn’t work at all during our stay. A budget traveler focused on the views and pool might find it suitable, but expect a basic, somewhat dated experience.

The pool water was yellow, as if it hadn’t been changed for a long time, and the room had lots of mosquitoes and hard, “wooden” pillows. There was nowhere to hang and dry a swimsuit. The hotel itself is quite old, with worn furniture and mold in the shower. The shower cabin didn’t even have a shelf for soap or shampoo. Towels were changed only once during the week. The old refrigerator froze all the food solid, and there wasn’t a spoon or knife in the room. Breakfast was the same every day with no variety. They provided two tiny bars of soap and two 5 ml shampoo bottles.

My wife and I travel from Canada to Europe every year and have stayed in plenty of hotels. We had a wonderful week this summer at Aloha Hotel in Agios Gordios on Corfu. The owner brothers, their family, and their lovely staff made us feel very welcome. Highly recommend.
