Irene Apartments

The beach is gorgeous and just a short walk past restaurants and mini-mart style shops. From the pool and bar, there are beautiful views of the green hills. Irene, Gregory, and the rest of the team were lovely hosts, and I’d happily stay again. My early July visit was peaceful and relaxing, just what I hoped for. Many thanks.

We were given a lower quality room than the one we booked. The conditions were unsanitary, with dirt, stained linen, dead mosquitoes on the walls, and blankets that smelled of urine. Promised amenities were missing: there was no sofa or hygiene products such as shower gel and shampoo. The mosquito repellent was empty, and we got bitten. Air conditioning was charged separately even though it was included in the price. The staff had a terrible attitude.

I haven’t stayed here, so this is just about the pool bar. In my opinion, it’s the best pool bar in Agios for non residents. The staff work hard and are really friendly, the food is good and very reasonably priced, and there are lovely views behind you with a welcome breeze. There’s a €10 minimum spend per person. It opens at 9, and it’s worth getting there early for a lounger, especially later in the week.

The pool staff and the hardworking cleaning staff were the only decent parts of our stay. Everything else was a disaster, especially the owner. Our room was down in a ditch beside a main road. The balcony looked onto a wall and car exhaust fumes, with constant traffic noise that made it hard to sleep at any time of day or night. I was there with my pregnant wife. When we politely asked about changing rooms, the owner came storming out from behind the desk, got in my face, and screamed at me as if she were having a breakdown. I stayed calm and asked her to step back and lower her voice. She eventually did, but the whole encounter was surreal, aggressive, threatening, and completely unprovoked. Reception was barely open, maybe an hour a day, and it felt like she was avoiding guests. Getting help with any issue seemed unlikely. She then tried to charge €13 per night in tourist tax. We checked the rate ourselves and found it was €5 per night for this type of accommodation, so we didn’t pay the amount she asked for. We were also surprised to find that air conditioning cost another €6 per day, on top of the tax, even though neither charge was listed on the booking site. That meant €19 a day in extra charges for things we expected to be standard. The owner was unprofessional and hostile, and seemed to resent her customers. I wouldn’t stay again even if it were free. It was noisy, stressful, and overpriced.
