This is a great choice if you want to stay in central Zakynthos and away from the tourist areas. It’s a traditional village house with thick walls and shutters, renovated to a high standard. Very comfortable and relaxing. The village has two bakeries, several shops and cafés, plus the superb San Leon Taverna.

We felt at home here, and it met all our needs. The owner was attentive and always available to answer questions about the house or island. There are amazing beaches about 30-40 minutes away by car, so there’s no need to look for a second place to stay during your island trip. It’s hard to imagine a better base in Zakynthos. If we come back, we’ll stay here again.

Agios Leon is full of friendly people, and the village has several restaurants. We enjoyed the family-run San Leon, with good Greek food at reasonable prices and very kind hosts. For coffee, try Space Market, where the owner makes fantastic espresso and they have all the essentials. The olive shop next door sells great olive oil. Joya Village House is a great place to stay if you want to avoid the crowds of Zakynthos. The apartment has everything, including an oven and washing machine. It’s recently renovated, nicely decorated, and very comfortable. The bed is good, and the courtyard terrace is great for meals. You’ll enjoy staying here!
