Du Lac Hotel

We chose mid to late October and stayed six nights. The city was quieter and the rates were good, so it felt like a great time to visit. Our room was comfortable and very clean, though a bit small. The cleaning staff were lovely, and the owner, a kind lady who was there early each day, and the friendly, helpful morning receptionist both made a good impression. The one awkward part was the night receptionist. On most evenings he sat in the lobby with friends and his girlfriend, and didn’t seem available at the desk when guests might need help. It wasn’t a big problem, but it came across as a little unprofessional beside the otherwise nice service. The location was excellent, and we had a very pleasant stay. We’d happily come back, probably in one of the larger apartments, which looked very nice.

The lake view made this our best visit so far. We woke up looking out over the lake of Agios Nikolaos, and George at reception kindly moved us from our city view studio to a lake view room at no extra charge. We’ve been here three times, though this was the first stay we left really happy. Evenings in the lobby were uncomfortable. Staff and their friends sat on the sofas smoking, with their feet on the tables, playing games and shouting. It didn’t feel right for a hotel lobby. Other reviews make it clear we weren’t the only ones who noticed this, especially at night. Thanks to George and the room upgrade, we’re looking forward to coming back.

We had a lake view room and it was cleaned really well every day. Sitting on the balcony with breakfast from the bakery was lovely. Nick at reception was a big help, always greeting us with a smile and stopping for a chat. The hotel is right in the centre, and we’ll definitely return.

We’ve been coming back to this same hotel for 15 years. It’s right in the centre, close to all the beaches, and the lake view is perfect. The staff are really friendly too. There’s a bar and restaurant at the hotel, and both are very good.
