Ikaros Art Hotel

Dorothy at reception was welcoming and really helpful, and the room was well appointed. The patio is super, though its two lounge chairs are broken and the deck is still breaking up, with no repairs since last year. The toilet seat also needs replacing because its fixing bolts are very wobbly. We still like the hotel and will return next time we’re in Agios Nikolaos. Thank you.

The bed was quaint but quite rickety, and the bathroom felt like a quick fix with little thought. The standard shower tray didn’t fit the bathroom width, and with only a curtain and no cubicle or door, water got everywhere. For December, the tiled floors were cold and the air heating was hard to regulate. It felt more basic than we’d gathered from the Travelocity posting, though it seems set up for summer.

I have a fondness for this little hotel and have stayed three times. The young couple who run it are lovely, and it’s in a great spot. I usually book the fifth-floor room, which has two terraces and an amazing view. The bedding is always crisp, fresh and white, the towels are soft and big enough, and the beds and pillows are comfortable. Ruddie supplies a lovely breakfast upstairs, with yogurt, bread, cakes, pastries, boiled eggs, jams, honey, tea, coffee, fresh fruit, cheese and ham. Last time I had a small room with two single beds. It was a bit tight for one person, and the wooden bed frames can catch your legs. The water is always hot and the shower pressure is good, though without a screen or curtain the floor gets a little wet.

A central but quiet spot, with spacious, fully equipped rooms that are extremely clean. The owners are amazing and ready to meet any needs. There’s a nice view from the roof garden, plus a private parking lot outside the hotel that’s quite cheap. Strongly recommended.
