Agios Nikolaos has a nice feel, and there are several excursions you can take from the port, just a two-minute walk away. We booked our tickets for the Spinalonga island trip right at the hotel reception. The hotel is well located and the beds were good. Both receptionists listened to what we needed. We asked if fruit could be added to breakfast, and there was fruit from the next day.

We had a lovely week away and I’d definitely recommend it. The location above the harbour is great, with shops and restaurants nearby and three beaches within about a 5, 10 and 15-20 minute walk. We thought the two closest were the best, though all were lovely. We were upgraded from a sea-view room to a honeymoon suite. It had a very comfortable double bed, a balcony with two chairs, a table and a clothes-drying rail, plus a sofa, double sinks with a mirror, and a bathroom with a shower. There was also a mini fridge with two cold waters when we arrived, a kettle, tea and coffee, mugs and glasses, and, most importantly, good air conditioning. Everyone we met on staff was lovely. Ross was the receptionist we spoke to most. He checked us in and out, speaks perfect English and couldn’t have been nicer. The other reception staff were also really helpful. They helped us book a boat excursion and gave us recommendations for the area.

We were there in October, with warm weather and a warm sea even though it was already low season. Music from a nearby nightclub played until midnight each night. We could hear it on the balcony, but not inside with the balcony door shut, and it didn’t bother us. We imagine it may be noisier in high season. There’s air conditioning and plenty of windows to let in the sea breeze. The hotel has stairs and no lift. The Maltesen suite is small, but our family of five fitted in comfortably. Its little balcony looked over the port. There are three balconies side by side, so it isn’t fully private, though that didn’t bother us. The hotel is in a perfect Agios Nikolaos location, with a minimarket nearby, free parking 100 meters away, and a lovely beach with good restaurants just 150 meters away. We found lovely breakfasts and dinners there. The staff were very friendly, and we hope to stay here again ❤️

We were welcomed by kind, helpful staff, who quickly sorted out a billing overcharge once we clarified the mistake. The room was upgraded for free, and the balcony had a good harbour view. It was a little basic, though, and the bathroom hot water wasn’t consistent. The hotel is close to the town harbour, which makes getting around convenient.
