Villa Italiana

The garden feels like years of care and work, and the host was charming and very helpful. She served a generous, very good breakfast for 6 Euros. The modern studio rooms had everything we needed, including excellent WiFi, and the bed was great. It's also just a short walk to the public beach in Amoudara.

We were disappointed, travelling as three adults with two children aged 7. Although the apartment was advertised for five, it really only suited four. There was barely room for luggage, the toilet was broken, there was no hot water, and the kitchen was poorly equipped. WiFi and 4G were both very weak, dogs barked all night, and there was no central heating, just AC in the tiny living room. The landlady was friendly, but these problems should have been dealt with beforehand and the property should have been described as it was. After we complained, she agreed to charge us only for the one night we stayed, instead of the four originally planned.

Roza's food was huge and delicious, enough to feed our family of four for three meals. I also loved the traditional Cretan breakfast she served. Villa Italiana has lovely, clean rooms with air-con when we needed it, surrounded by wonderful mediterranean gardens. It's only a short stroll to a good beach and tavernas.

Villa Italiana is tucked away but still close to everything, with a wonderfully relaxed feel. Rosa is always around if you need something, and even gave me some of the giant basil from her garden for my pesto. The garden is remarkable, all built by hand and full of incredible stone mosaics. We stayed four nights and would gladly have stayed longer. I'd love to visit again, grazie mille Rosa x
