We had a lovely, spacious room just a few metres from the sea, with a beautiful view. My partner was ill and had to stay in bed for three days, so we especially appreciated that. The photos are accurate: the place is well finished, thoughtfully laid out, and beautifully decorated. The bed was large and comfortable, though its hard mattress could be tough on your joints after a few days. Bedding and pillows were good quality, and there were bedside tables and sockets on both sides. The bathroom was in good condition and not too cramped, though the toilet seat didn’t quite fit and the lid kept falling down. The kitchen was excellent for self catering, with a toaster, washing-up liquid, tea towel, and plenty of food storage space. A second socket in the kitchen would make it easier to make tea and toast at once. The balcony was roomy, with views across the harbour to Agia Marina and amazing sunrises if you’re up very early. There was no shade until the afternoon, though, and I got a bit sunburnt. It was lovely to sit there in the evening and watch the lights come on in Agia Marina and across the mountains. We were glad both the balcony windows and bathroom window had mosquito nets. Wi-Fi was excellent in our room. There’s no bar or shared lounge, but the grounds, stairs, and corridors were well kept and lit at night. Alinda is very quiet, with a narrow pebble beach, a few tavernas and bars, and not much else to do. It lacks the lively feel of Agia Marina, and we wish we’d stayed there instead. This place makes more sense if you’re happy to rent a car or scooter. Public transport was awkward for us: the bus stop for Agia Marina is halfway up the mountainside, near the little kiosk you can find by searching “periptero” on Google Maps, and it’s a tough walk if you have mobility issues. The bus had stopped running by mid-September, so we were stuck in Alinda. The seafront supermarket wasn’t very useful for self catering and some products were out of date. For a proper supermarket or pharmacy, walk up past the periptero and check opening hours first. Although the hotel itself was well maintained, the peace was often interrupted. There’s a scooter rental service on the property, so you hear people discussing scooters and revving engines all day. The family also gathers on the lower balcony, where conversations echo loudly. Instead of a peaceful stay, we heard people talking and shouting and scooters coming and going throughout the day. Such a shame. You can pay less elsewhere in Alinda, but this hotel’s lovely room, thoughtful facilities, and upkeep made it worth paying a little more.
