Maistrali

We had a beautiful view from the balcony, and you can swim from the private deck behind the hotel. The owners were friendly and ready to help, while still letting us enjoy our holiday. The rooms are small but well laid out, with comfy beds, a small bathroom that has all you need, and everything was very clean. There was a nice coffee machine in the room, plus tea and coffee each day. When our ferry was cancelled, the hosts helped us book an extra night. We’d stay again if we return. They also have a restaurant in Chora, and the food there was really nice, the best we had on the island. For a small island like this, don’t expect Santorini-style rooms, but we really loved our stay.

We stayed for a week at the end of September in the Faros room at Maistrali Studios. The view from its balcony was unique, out over the open sea, port, and beach, and the other two sea view rooms have the same kind of balcony and views. The room and bathroom were small, but that was fine for us. We could swim right in front of Maistrali, using a ladder to get in and out of the sea. The beach is a three-minute walk, and the ferry about eight minutes away. There’s free parking in the public lot near the beach. The Faros room had a small fridge, kettle, capsule coffee machine, and some dishes and cutlery, so we made breakfast and ate it on the balcony. Tea and coffee were included daily, and both AC and free WiFi worked well. The hosts, Harris and Jenny, were very friendly and helpful. They have a small electric car and picked up our luggage from the port. They cleaned the room every day, and sometimes brought homemade sweet rolls or other little breakfast treats. Their tavern in Chora, named Kapari, serves very tasty food. I’d happily recommend Maistrali and the tavern too.

Our room had a fantastic view and was among the cleanest places we’ve stayed. Coffee and tea were provided too. The owners were really friendly, and the location was convenient, close to the bus stop. Great rooms to let, highly recommended.

The waterside location was fabulous, and the rooms were beautiful, clean, and stylish. Still, it wasn’t what we’d expected. We thought we were booking a hotel with the usual basics, like a bar, breakfast, and other guests around, but it’s just rooms. We also assumed the restaurant was attached, when it’s actually in the next village. Even so, we had a fantastic stay on a quiet, old-style Greek island.
