Civitel Creta Beach

The people here are the hotel's real strength. Staff were kind and helpful throughout. We arrived before 10 am and, even though breakfast was nearly over and we weren't entitled to it yet, they invited us in and had a full table of food waiting. When we went on a day trip, we could ask the dining room to pack food for us. On our last day, after we'd checked out and spent the day at the beach, they gave us a room free of charge in the early evening so we could shower and pack before going to the airport. When we asked for something, they said, “Everything is possible here.” It really felt that way. The accommodation is in small houses spread through a tree-filled garden rather than one central building, so each has privacy and a pleasant terrace. The hotel grounds include a well-maintained beach with umbrellas, sun loungers, and showers. We had a great holiday and recommend the hotel.

The buffet had plenty of choices, and both breakfast and dinner were really good. We also enjoyed the pool and beach areas, with enough sunbeds. The atmosphere was so relaxing, thanks in large part to the super friendly staff who helped us however they could. We had an amazing time and definitely recommend the hotel.

The staff deserve the highest praise. Every one of them was friendly, helpful, and genuinely good to us, and I hope we can see them again soon. It was a wonderful place for a quiet holiday, with very good food, a lovely sea, and a hotel concept we really liked. There was always somewhere to sit by the pool or on the beach, and the steady light breeze kept the heat from feeling overwhelming, like natural air conditioning. The hotel is conveniently close to both the airport and the city center.

This review is about the hotel, not the bungalow. The bungalow might deserve four stars, but I don't think the hotel does. What we liked: the food was tasty and varied, and the staff were consistently courteous and helpful. Cleaning was another strong point, with linen and towels changed daily. We also enjoyed the beautiful view and the well-kept garden, which made for a relaxing setting. The room itself didn't meet what I expected of a four-star hotel. The bathroom looked different from the pictures: instead of a modern shower, there was an old, unhygienic curtain. I booked a double bed but got two mattresses pushed together, and they separated during the night. Our room was beside a very busy street, with constant noise, as if I were sleeping outdoors. There was a large gap beneath the main door, and the room had a stale, unpleasant smell. We didn't feel the standard was four stars, didn't enjoy the stay, and won't return. I'd suggest renovating the hotel section or telling tourists clearly that its conditions aren't four-star.
