Marirena

We found the room clean, though a few bugs showed up during our stay :) It was tucked away and felt somewhat dark and enclosed. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and the location was excellent for us, very close to the beach.

Hotel Marirena had a calm, relaxing feel that suited a restful vacation. Our room was clean and well kept, the food was delicious, and the staff were hospitable throughout. We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend it. And I want to add that the negative reviews aren’t true!

We were so happy at Marirena hotel that Crete has stayed in our hearts. After a hard year of work, this was the perfect vacation. We booked a seven-day tour with Tez Tour travel agency and came from Northern Europe. We like exploring new places, but we’d gladly return to Crete, to Heraklion and Marirena. Our room on the first floor was spacious, with a balcony and safe box, and the hotel was clean. Breakfast and dinner were delicious, and the kitchen team made us feel cared for with their well-organised European style of service. Room service was great too. The entrance stays open 24 hours with a guard. The seashore is about 300 m away, along a beautiful, quiet lane. You can rent a seabed from Havana bar or Teatro bar, or find your own spot on the clean sandy beach. The hotel is also a good base for Heraklion and ancient Knossos, and reception can tell you how to get there. Say “Kalimera!” in the morning until noon and you’ll get a warm reply, or “Yassas” at other times. Most of all, the people made us feel at home. Rena and Pela at reception were attentive to everything we needed, always patient and polite when answering questions, and even found time to chat while busy with other guests. In the middle of our vacation we got sad news about our beloved dog back home. They comforted us with such heartfelt words, and we truly appreciated it. Cretan people are awesome, and we won’t forget their kindness. We love Greece, Crete and the Cretan culture. “Euharisto!”, thank you from our hearts, Marilena!

I booked an extra night at Marirena Hotel and wanted to thank Georgia at customer service and reception. She’s professional, funny, and so kind. She always makes you feel welcome, and you can tell she puts her heart into the job. Georgia, you’re the best. Thanks again!
