Sunflower studios

Maria & Nick looked after us so generously, even arranging a great pickup at the port and a good deal on a car. Sunflower Studios also has a lovely view, and Kastelia Bay is only a three-minute walk away. The flowers outside are beautifully arranged too. We loved our time in Karpathos and will be back. The price for what you get is great, and these owners are proof that honest people exist. Thank you so much!

Amoopi is tucked away, but close enough to enjoy, and Sunflower is a delightful place to stay. Nik and Maria make you feel right at home, and the rooms are larger than usual. It's a handy base in Karpathos, about half an hour from the airport and 20 minutes from Pigardia, the main port. There are five beaches nearby, though a car is useful if you can manage it, since everywhere is uphill. It's worth the effort: Amoopi beaches are great for children, and there's a central car park convenient for three beaches. Amoopi beach itself is sandy, with shallow water for many yards. Get there early if you want a bed, they cost 15 to 30 euros and go quickly. British visitors often get asked where their accent is from, as hardly any British people go there. Direct flights are only from Italy and Scandinavia; from Britain, we have to fly via Athens or Rhodes, and the ferry takes a long time. Highly recommended.
