The bathroom problems made this the worst stay we’ve had. The shower flooded from the first day, and by day four sewage and human waste were coming up through the drains. The bathroom flooded, our clothes were ruined, and the smell was unbearable. We couldn’t live in the apartment like that. We called and messaged the host repeatedly, but he never came. He told us he didn’t care and suggested we use public toilets. When we left, he locked us out and demanded €120 in cash to give back our IDs and car keys. The police had to intervene. His mother also directed racist abuse at us. There were other problems too: no toilet paper, a promised dryer that never arrived, and extra charges for basics like laundry. The old, dirty apartment looked nothing like the photos, and even small requests brought hostility or more fees. Airbnb supported us. For our health and safety, I’d tell people to avoid this place.

The apartment was old, dirty, and nothing like the photos. Every small request seemed to come with another fee: we had to ask several times for toilet paper, which arrived late at night, the washing machine cost extra, and the promised dryer never showed up, so we borrowed one from neighbors. Cleaning and towels also weren’t provided as described in the listing. The worst part began with a shower that flooded from our first day. After repeated calls and messages, the host told us to dry it ourselves with the tools. On day four, sewage and human waste came up from the drains and flooded the bathroom. The smell was awful, our clothes were ruined, and we were stuck in disgusting conditions. The host had said he was coming to check, left us waiting for hours, then said it was Sunday and he was far away. He never came and told us, “I don’t care, do whatever you want.” He even suggested we use the public toilets downstairs. We decided to leave and sent Airbnb photos and videos. They asked us to return for our belongings, including our IDs and car keys. When we got back, the host had locked us out and demanded €120 in cash outside the Airbnb platform. He claimed we caused the damage by throwing toilet paper down the drains. That’s absurd, we didn’t do that, and there hadn’t even been enough toilet paper in the apartment. An older woman we believe was his mother insulted us with racist comments, including, “go back home, this is Greece, you are not welcome.” We called the police, who made the host open the door so we could get our things. By then, more than two hours had passed. We’ve traveled around the world and received lots of positive reviews, including one from Chania just a week earlier. This was by far our worst experience. Airbnb supported us, thankfully. The host’s responses to other negative reviews make it seem like this may be a pattern. If you want to be mistreated, locked out, and subjected to racist abuse, book here. Otherwise, stay away. For your mental health, stay away.

The apartment’s location made exploring Crete easy. It was in a charming neighborhood near attractions, restaurants, and shops, with lovely views of the surrounding landscape. Lefteris also helped us get to know the island, sharing local stories and suggestions for places to eat, visit, and discover. He was warm when we arrived, explained the apartment and the area, and was easy to reach whenever we needed help or had a question. He even helped with transport and activity suggestions. It was clear he cared about making the stay enjoyable. The apartment was spotless and well maintained, with spacious rooms, comfortable beds, a well-equipped kitchen, and thoughtful decor and amenities. We felt at home there. Lefteris was a wonderful host, and we had a fantastic stay. I’d happily recommend him and the apartment to anyone visiting Crete.

The apartments were clean and comfortable, and the area in anissaras was lovely, close to the beach. There’s a nice pool with a pool bar too. Lefteris was a perfect host, helpful and happy to organize island tours that made the holiday more interesting. We’re very happy with our stay and would gladly come back anytime. Highly recommended! :)

The owner was always happy to help make our stay better. The atmosphere was really relaxed, and it’s a decent base for getting around the island. We had a lovely time and I’d stay here again, probably will. Many thanks!
