Archontiko Eleni Hotel by Explore Andros

A charming little hotel right by the main walking area in the heart of Chora. The rooms are lovely, with high ceilings and balconies, and they were clean and very comfortable. There’s a nice breakfast area downstairs. If stairs are an issue, I’d suggest asking for a downstairs room. For anyone arriving by car, the hotel sits at the edge of the village, with a car park nearby. Highly recommend!

I rented the neo classical Mansion through this hotel for two nights in February. The house itself was nice and spacious, but the heating hadn’t been turned on before I arrived, despite my asking. I walked between the hotel and the apartment several times while waiting, and it took seven hours for the temperature to reach 19 degrees. Two staff members also contacted me to ask the same arrival questions, which seemed strange. I’d been told three restaurants would be open, but they were all closed. A staff woman suggested a souvlaki place outside town. It was awful, the food was really average, the place was dirty, and the cook was smoking in the kitchen. The AC is awkwardly placed in the hallway instead of the main living area. Ándros was a letdown for me, and I wouldn’t recommend visiting; Tinos is amazing by comparison.

The location is wonderfully quiet despite being right at the start of the pedestrian street, and there’s a large free public car park nearby. The neighborhood has many grand restored mansions. Inside, this is a unique, opulent building, with painted ceilings, tall windows, lots of light, and a fresh, sparkling-clean feel everywhere. Elda and the other staff were kind and helpful. Ms. Vili was incredible, giving us every day the local details that fit our needs perfectly and made our vacation. This beautifully restored mansion sits in the center of Andros Town. I highly recommend it.

A really nice place, within walking distance of everywhere in town. They’ll help you with whatever you need, and we had a great experience.
