Camara Suites

I’m writing this while we’re still here because I couldn’t wait until checkout. The location is the one good thing about this place. We paid €81 on Booking for a room listed at a “bargain” €125 in low season, and I hate to imagine the high-season price. Inside, the toaster still had crumbs from previous guests, the oven was greasy, and there was a used sponge in the kitchen. The bathroom grout was filthy and the toilet lid broken. There was grime on the lamp, a rusty drying rack, and, as a final surprise, a cut toenail in the bed sheet. Truly unforgettable. We won’t be touching the breakfast.

Right in the heart of Chora, beside the monument and viewpoint, this is a quaint little spot on the main street. The room is tiny, but has what you need, and the staff are helpful and friendly.

We had the five-person Odysseus room, though it didn’t feel large enough for five adults. Its terrace, on the other hand, is roomy and has a nice view. Breakfast is included, served rather than buffet style, and the food was great, with most ingredients locally sourced. The mansion has been beautifully renovated, and the location makes it easy to get to shops and restaurants while still enjoying the view. Since it’s an old building, the staircase is narrow, which could be awkward with larger suitcases. The staff were great. Our room was cleaned every day, the amenities were good, and the receptionist was friendly and helpful. There are also two canoes to use when the sea is calm. Getting to them was a little tricky, and the boats seemed better suited to one person each, but we took two per boat and had a lot of fun.

Andros felt like the haven my heart and soul needed, and I’m already looking forward to coming back. I fell for the historical, vintage dollhouse mansion at Camara Suites. The staff were so caring, breakfast was delicious, and room service came every day. They made my extended stay feel magical and even upgraded me. Thank you for going above and beyond! 🤍🐚
