Villa Avra apartment 2nd floor

I was struck by how welcoming the hostesses were. They quickly helped with directions and ideas for the island’s must-see spots. The rooms had a TV and fast internet for the occasional bad-weather day, and there’s a generous garden to relax in with a beautiful mountain view. It’s also an easy walk from the bus stop, close to the beach and local bars. Definitely recommend, 10/10!

The hosts were really friendly without laying it on too thick, which I appreciated. The rooms are dated and nothing fancy, but well equipped and very clean, with daily cleaning. The Wi-Fi signal was so weak that we couldn’t use it. Also, make sure every door is shut properly for the air conditioning to work, since it has sensors 😉

We got the real feel of Corfu that I’d hoped for, and Villa Avra was very good value for what we paid. The apartment was basic but had what we needed, and we cooked a couple of meals on quiet nights in. The owners were around often and always spoke to us, and the gardens were nice. It was very clean too. There were a few things that needed attention. The air conditioning leaked, but was fixed the next day. The shower tap also leaked onto the edge of the shower pan and then the floor. I asked about it, but it wasn’t fixed. We stopped the water reaching the floor ourselves, though it kept dripping. The location is about a 20-minute walk from either Dassia or Ipsos beach, up a very steep hill. I keep fit, but climbing back up after a long, hot day wasn’t great. Dassia was our preferred beach, a quiet little spot with bars nearby. Ipsos is right beside a road. We hired a car for a couple of days and I’d recommend doing that to get around. The good value and cleanliness were offset by the location and the repairs that still needed doing, so I’m giving it 3 stars.

The rooms were cleaned every day, and the garden was a great place to hang out. It’s also about 20 minutes to Kerkyra. The owners were friendly and helpful, and the location is ideal, with shortcuts to some of the most beautiful beaches in the north of Corfu. Really good value for the price. I’ll definitely visit again.
