Agoulos Beach Hotel

Being able to reach the sea in just a few steps was my favourite part. The water was crystal clear and great for swimming whenever we wanted. The garden and pool area were clean and relaxing, and we enjoyed the outdoor pool bar. Its cocktails were delicious, and the owners, who run it as a family business, were so friendly and welcoming. We had a lovely stay at Agoulos Beach Hotel. It was our first visit to Greece, and the hotel turned out to be a really good choice. The whole staff were lovely, especially the receptionist, who was incredibly kind and helpful. She made us feel welcome straight away and gave us great suggestions for places to go and see, as well as tips for getting around. She was beautiful inside and out. There are good restaurants nearby, and the pedestrian street is about a 10 minute walk away. We're glad this was our first experience of Greece. The hotel gave us the relaxing, friendly, beautiful holiday we were hoping for.

The pool water was clean and, unusually, heated, and a few short steps led down to the sea. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Our ground floor room, number 109, was disappointing, though. It was dark, dingy, and smelled damp, with poor lighting and a curtain over the outside door that didn't keep the light out. We stepped straight from it into the garden and pool bar area, but the garden was very unkempt and needs a good gardener. The walk into town follows the main road. I wouldn't recommend it for children or for anyone who's a bit unsure on their feet. We booked this budget stay for two nights through Booking.com.

The location is handy, close to the main Argassi town strip, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. They booked taxis for us. There's a nice pool and bar right by the sea, and the Garden Bar up top was very good. Our room smelled very damp, and the bathroom floor never dried. The A/C worked fine, while the WiFi came and went. I'd suggest it for a short stop, perhaps between flights and ferries, rather than a whole holiday.

The price and the view are the hotel's best points. The rooms badly need renovating, and the WiFi is poor. At the pool bar, the DJ seemed to think he was the new David Guetta, playing upbeat music far too loudly all day.
