Maistrali Studios

At Maistrali, the owner couple gave us such thoughtful service. His wife had great suggestions from the menu, and even took my husband into the kitchen so he could pick a fresh fish from the refrigerator. The grilled fish with side salad was perfect, and the meatballs in tomato sauce with rice were delicious. They brought us a complimentary Mastiha liqueur at the end. It tasted like Ouzo and smelled of coriander. They said it wasn't ouzo, and either way, we enjoyed it. Two main meals and a litre of white wine came to €37, amazing value. We'd highly recommend this friendly restaurant. We'd chosen it after the staff at another local restaurant ignored us, and we were very glad we did.

We enjoyed grilled swordfish, sardines and horta at this lovely, typical restaurant. Everything was very tasty, and the service was kind and professional. Recommended.

We ate here on 12th May 2025 and had a great meal. The family running the place were welcoming and really friendly, and the Greek food and wine felt authentic.

I ordered the Roasted Chicken after reading the menu and expected a proper meal with potatoes and herbs, like at another taverna. Instead I got one chicken thigh with a little rice for 10eu. It felt like a joke, and not like Greek cuisine or hospitality. Looked like feeding the cats. I regret not checking Google Review first, so I hope this helps someone else. The restaurants at the main square by the windmills are better, which may be why that area is more crowded even in low season. The restaurants and shops near the port are less interesting than the ones up by the windmills.
