Iliessa Beach Hotel

The beach is beautiful and relaxing, and the staff are welcoming. It’s a cheap, good base for travelling around the island, with a lovely looking hotel and very good breakfast. I’d give the beach four stars. The stairs into the water could use work, though. The last step is high and slippery, making it hard to get in, especially for older people. The rooms were the weak point. There was only one outlet for charging phones, and our towels were dirty on both the first and second days.

I’ve visited Iliessa Beach many times over the last few years, and this year was the best. The rooms felt fresh, there was hot water, and the pool was clean. Breakfast was finally very good too. The AC also ran 24 hours a day, unlike in previous years when it only worked for a few hours during the day.

We had a nice time and enjoyed the hotel’s lovely sea view. The atmosphere is pleasant, but a few simple fixes could have made this a five star stay. Inside the room the wireless was completely useless, and there was no 4G signal either, so we couldn’t use either connection. Breakfast was somewhat poor, and the air conditioning only worked at set times.

The pool area was clean, and the green space between the hotel and the water was very nice. Breakfast was good, with small changes each day. The hotel is directly by the sea, but there’s no beach, just stairs into the water. Our room was okay but felt sterile, with only one small picture and no welcome leaflet or information about fees for the TV, fridge or other things. I’ve been to Greece 20 times and hadn’t encountered those charges before. Cleaning was fine. I changed rooms after getting one on the road side. Across the road, a bar plays live music very loudly until midnight. The pool bar was almost twice the price of places in town, and its food wasn’t acceptable.
