My girlfriend and I booked a room at the Castle By The Sea on the spur of the moment, after a long trip that included a diverted flight. Once we got there, we were so relieved to find a calm, green, pretty, and interesting complex with well-equipped rooms. The owners were warm and accommodating, and the place felt clean and soulful. I don’t usually write reviews this enthusiastic, but it was just the safe haven we needed to recharge. We absolutely recommend this hotel.

Our flight delay meant we arrived at 12:30am, an hour and a half late, after check-in had closed. The owner was understanding and kindly checked us in anyway. The hotel was beautiful, with striking castle details throughout. Our clean, lovely room had all the amenities we needed. We only stayed one night, but would love to come back.

The grounds looked beautiful, especially at night, and had a really special atmosphere. The rooms were big and nice, with spacious bathrooms and a great bathtub. The kitchen was fantastic too. One room had red curtains that didn’t keep out the sun, so the kids woke up early. It all had a lovely medieval feel. Very much recommend.

It’s a quirky place in a fantastic setting, with everything you need and a very comfortable stay. The host was great. Airport transfers are easier and better value, so use them both ways.

This was exactly right for a night before an early flight, with the airport about 15 minutes away. We had the most spacious room of our trip, and the cute grounds made us wish we’d had more time to explore the castle. Reserve a taxi the night before, or bring €20 in cash for their airport transfer.
