In the morning, have a cup of coffee while looking at the city from the window. You can take a walk and explore the neighbourhood area of the hotel — Port of Argostoli.

We loved how easy it was to stroll from Villa Petrino into the village or down to the little beach for a swim. The views were incredible, and the owners made us feel very welcome, including with a generous welcome pack that we really appreciated. We spent a week there in late September 2024. The villa was spotless, traditionally styled, and equipped with everything we needed. There's a parking space, though getting down to the villa means tackling a steep path. It was worth the effort. Assos is a quiet, postcard-pretty village and a handy base for exploring the less touristy north of Kefalonia. This was one of the best places we've stayed, and we'd love to return. Those views alone make it stand out.

The walk back from the main part of Assos takes longer because it's uphill, though maybe that's just me getting older. It's less than five minutes downhill to the village. The smaller one-bedroom villa we had in 2019 had no pool but still had everything we needed, and it was lovely, though we did miss being able to swim. We've stayed here several times, including in 2019 and 2020. Two villas have pools, and the water is always warmer than the sea. Everything is kept very clean and inviting, and the owner is nearby if anything comes up. The apartments are maintained well too. Our second visit was to a beautiful apartment with its own pool. Hard to beat.

What makes the stay feel like home is how warm and friendly the owners are. The three villas are spacious inside and equipped with what you need to be comfortable. Each has a huge terrace with an incredible view, and two of the three have private pools. I'd say this is the best place to stay in Assos, and maybe even on all of Kefalonia.

The owners are lovely and helpful, and even add to your stay with homemade products. The setting and facilities feel magical, with the best view in Assos. Such relaxing Greek hospitality for a holiday ⛱️🌊🌞
