Braunis Horio Villas

The view from Villa Eutixia is majestic, and Asos is a charming, colorful little town within walking distance. I stayed there on my own, but it would work well for a couple too. The villa's name is pronounced “Ef-ta-he-a” and means “happiness.” I can't think of a better place to stay on Kefalonia. The walk up to Asos Castle, the ruins of an old Italian Fortress, is glorious and a good way to work off all that Feta cheese. There are three restaurants in town. Platanos was the one I enjoyed: the food was delicious. I found the food at the other restaurants inedible, even though their views might be better. Since the villa's own views are so spectacular, I'd order take away lunch or dinner from Platanos and eat back at the villa. Perfect. A few things that might help first timers and tall people: the shower has a high rain head as well as a handheld one. I'm 182cm/6' tall and fit fine. Wi-Fi and cell service were strong. There's a washer, but the dials are in Greek, so you may need to ask for help; a drying rack outside works quickly in the heat, with clothes usually dry in an hour. Driving and parking can be precarious. Rent a very small car, preferably automatic, because the hills are extremely steep, the roads are very narrow, and some aren't paved. There are literally goats everywhere. You can't drink the water or flush paper down the toilet. They gave me two bottles of water on arrival, but for a seven night stay I think the property manager should provide at least seven. The loft-like bedroom and toilet have a low slanted ceiling, so anyone over 5'9” (179cm) will need to duck. The shower is tall enough, and it's a minor nuisance unless you're 6'2” or taller. Be sure to visit Acqua Alaties beach. I'm fairly certain it's heaven on earth, and the “Aqua” Salad (Quinoa-Cabbage-Arugula-Goat Cheese) at the beach restaurant is to die for. Enjoy!

Katerina handled all the arrangements, and the service was superb from beginning to end. The villas sit in a fantastic spot with breathtaking views. It's a truly professional setup, and by far the best villas on the island.

Just got back from a lovely week in one of the villas. Everything was great. Karina and the staff were superb, and both the villa and its surroundings were kept extremely clean and tidy. Highly recommended!
