Apollo Hotel

We were two people in one room at Hotel Apollo in Athens from 5-7 October 2025 and asked for a second key, which seemed like a normal request. The man at reception was rude and offered no help. He accused us of already taking two keys, which wasn’t true, and his arrogant, disrespectful way of speaking made us very uncomfortable. That’s unacceptable in hospitality, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend the hotel.

The woman looking after the rooftop bar was incredibly kind and attentive, and they serve drinks there too. It’s a peaceful, simple hotel with stunning views of the Parthenon. We loved ending the day on the terrace, watching the Acropolis lit up while eating gyros or chicken souvlaki.

The rooftop bar has amazing views of the Acropolis, which is the only reason I’m giving this place two stars. We chose the hotel for its price and location, though it wasn’t especially cheap. The room was okay until we tried the beds, which felt like springs under a blanket and were very uncomfortable. With over 30° outside, the air conditioning barely worked and didn’t cool the room. The TV remote was literally broken, so we couldn’t watch TV. After dropping us at the entrance, our Uber driver told us to leave because the area was very dangerous.

At check-in, the reception staff greeted us with a warm smile and were friendly and helpful, offering tips and directions without us even asking. The hotel felt clean and comfortable throughout. We also liked its location, a short walk from the Acropolis and good local places to eat, which made exploring easy. We had a great stay and would happily return.
