Astor Hotel Athens

The hotel itself was fine, and the location was good. We had an unusual mix-up with our reservation, but the man at the front desk during check-in was condescending and didn’t try to help or understand. Then cleaning staff came in at 7:30 in the morning while we were asleep and woke us up. This was our fourth place in Greece, and unfortunately the worst, on our last day.

The Acropolis view from the rooftop and breakfast room is amazing. The staff were always smiling, friendly, helpful, and kind. The rooms are quite narrow, especially for a family of three, and the bathroom is narrow too, though the bath itself is fine.

The rooms were a decent size, and the breakfast was good. The location was decent too, with a great roof view. I had a good stay overall and would probably come back, but nights were loud. I was on the first floor, and even with the windows shut, outside noise came through strongly. I barely slept before about 3am. Bring earplugs and it might be a 4.5-5 star experience.

The view from the rooftop dining room took our breath away when we first saw it, and the breakfast was delicious with lots of variety. The rooms and beds were comfortable, and many Athens sights were an easy walk away, including the Acropolis and panathaneic stadium, both about 20 minutes on foot. There was plenty of food and shopping nearby, and a parking garage around a 7 minute walk away. I only took off a star because we entered the lottery for a room with an acropolis view, then started recording because we were excited, only to find you can barely see anything from Room 506. It just cost extra money.
