Athens Lydia Hotel

My room was comfortable, clean, well equipped, and quiet thanks to good soundproofing. The staff were welcoming and helpful. From the hotel, Attiki Metro Station is nearby and the major Athens attractions are easy to reach. I had a really enjoyable stay.

I stayed at the Lydia in May 2022 and would happily return. It's affordable, clean, and safe, with friendly, attentive staff and the essentials you need. My belongings felt secure in the room. Attiki metro is only a few minutes away on foot, giving access to the Greater Athens Area. There are also plenty of amenities nearby. If you're on the top floor, you can see the Acropolis at night from the balcony.

The staff are very friendly and work hard to keep this old building clean, and the air conditioning works well. It's not a particularly nice area, but there's food nearby, several bus stops, and a 3-5 minute walk to a metro stop for the green and red lines. The bakery beside Aitiki metro stop is pretty good. There’s no parking, but the front desk is open 24 hours. The bed wasn't very comfortable. All the rooms seem to allow smoking, though the smell was minimal in mine. The naked lady paintings on the walls are a little odd, but it's Europe. For a reasonable place near a metro line and not too far from downtown, it was a decent balance, maybe a little overpriced. It depends what you're looking for.

It has what you need for a stopover, and the 24-hour service was safe and excellent. But the rooms are smoking rooms, and the smell clung to the walls and furniture. The air felt thick and unpleasant, especially overnight. I'm not sure about showering there, since there were no curtains or doors, so I just used a sponge bath. There were also one or two inevitable cockroaches.
