Athens Plaka Family Suites

Our booking was for a first-floor apartment, but at the last minute they sent a photo and instructions for a much smaller basement studio. We accepted and spent one night there, but it turned into a nightmare. The studio was much smaller than described, not very clean, damp, and had an unbearable mould smell and humidity flies. My wife woke with an asthma attack, and we barely slept. When I explained what happened, they said we hadn’t even entered the apartment, though it was clear they had to clean it after we’d stayed one night instead of six. I think they were unfair and lied about it. I’m writing this to help others avoid being deceived and losing money. Another customer in the reviews also didn’t get what she booked.

I’m Cristian’s wife. We could have accepted the basement after you sent us the door picture at the last minute, but I can’t accept your claim that it was 47 square metres when it was 15. The severe mould smell came from the ventilation, kitchen cabinets, and shower. The whole apartment was rotten. We stayed one night and couldn’t manage more because I have asthma. Then you told Booking we’d never entered the apartment. That lie, after lie, is what bothers me most.

We needed a convenient room in Athens for a few days, near the major sights, the airport, and the port, and this worked out great. We walked for miles to the Acropolis, visited lots of great restaurants, and wandered through the quaint, winding streets. The room was clean and comfortable, nothing fancy, but it suited us well. We’d come back. Thank you, we really enjoyed your city!

A pristine modern apartment on a quiet side street, close to the Acropolis and good restaurants. The host was lovely, and the balcony and WiFi were both good. Definitely five stars.
