Athens Quinta - Hostel

BEWARE, BED BUGS!! The hostel looked so cute and cozy that I was really excited to stay, but it was a letdown. Breakfast was pretty much nonexistent, and the bedding was full of holes, like rags. My friend and I got bed bugs there. Staff acted as if this had never happened and weren’t very responsive or helpful. They wouldn’t refund us or offer any compensation, so we lost a lot of time and money washing our clothes and had to find somewhere else to stay. From the reviews, it seems like they have a serious bed bug problem and are ignoring it. Disgusting!

Please don’t stay here, there are bed bugs. We spotted them before unpacking, so we were lucky to get a refund and move to another hotel. The staff member helped arrange the refund, though she didn’t seem surprised that we’d found bedbugs.

DO NOT STAY, THERE IS A BED BUG INFESTATION. We’d settled in when we noticed bed bugs all over the bed. The staff member didn’t seem surprised when we told her. Thankfully, we caught it before spending the night and got out of there. She did refund us, to be fair, but it was an awful experience and we had to switch hotels. The new place cost about the same and was much, much nicer.

‼️‼️‼️BED BUGS‼️‼️‼️ This is completely unacceptable. We booked 2 nights, then spotted a bedbug just before going to sleep. We spent the entire night outside on the terrace, waiting until 9am for a staff member to finally turn up. The manager stopped answering my calls, though she answered when one of her own staff called her. We washed all our belongings at the laundry next door and demanded a refund for both nights as well as the laundry costs. The manager showed no understanding of the physical or psychological toll this caused. When I asked how she could let us stay in that room, she said, ‘Well, I didn’t see any in this room, so for me it’s fine.’ I told her that even if she were paid, she wouldn’t sleep there herself, and she had no reply. The manager knows the place is infested but still rents out rooms. Bedbugs are a global health issue, and dealing with them is a matter of responsibility. This manager and her team seem unwilling to take the problem seriously and keep letting guests sleep in those conditions. It’s bad faith, irresponsible, and shockingly unprofessional, with no empathy. Let her spend one night in her own hotel and get bitten. I’m sure she’d feel differently.
