We booked three nights through the building’s official website in December 2025, but after the first night we had to leave. Noise from nearby bars and nightlife carried on without a break until about 5:00 a.m. We couldn’t sleep at all. For a short Athens trip, being able to rest somewhere safe and quiet is a basic need, and this place didn’t meet it. There was no overnight security guard or concierge to help. The next morning we told the concierge we hadn’t slept and couldn’t stay under those conditions. They acknowledged the problem, said we could leave, and advised us to email management about a refund for the other two nights. Relying on that, we booked another hotel at our own expense and checked out. About three hours after we’d gone, manager Stella called. I explained again that the noise and lack of sleep were the problem. She offered to move us to a room with a bathtub, which had nothing to do with our need for quiet and rest. There was little empathy for the stress and extra costs of leaving early. Stella ultimately refused to refund the remaining two nights, even though the conditions were outside our control and on-site staff had told us to leave. Future visitors should know about this. The noise makes sleep extremely difficult, if not impossible, and management handled a legitimate concern very poorly. If rest, comfort and professional service matter to you, I strongly advise against booking this property. I wouldn’t consider it a viable choice even as a last resort.

The location made it easy to explore Athens on foot. Monastiraki train station is a simple walk away, and there are restaurants and shops all around, with something new to explore on each corner. The Acropolis, National Gardens and Panathenaic Stadium are a few minutes away by foot. From the rooftop patio, you can see the Acropolis lit up at night. We stayed in the Avant Garde room, which was spacious and comfortable, with a wonderful shower. Getting to it means climbing narrow, winding stairs, so that worked for us but could be tough for older guests or anyone with limited mobility. We arrived close to midnight and had already received WhatsApp instructions for self check-in before we asked. George at the front desk was knowledgeable and helpful, and knew us by name before we introduced ourselves. The main drawback was weekend noise. We arrived on Saturday night, Valentine’s Day, and learned that Athens gets going late, with people heading out after 11:00 p.m. The restaurant and bar across the street, along with many others, stay open until 4:00 a.m. This old building doesn’t have much soundproofing. The other nights were fine. My noise-canceling headphones worked, but I’d think twice about coming on a weekend if you’re not part of the late-night scene.
I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. The rooms looked nothing like the photos: they were old, outdated and poorly maintained, and even drinking water wasn’t provided. The area felt unsafe to me, with a lot of unpleasant characters around. There was no soundproofing, and being directly above bars and restaurants meant the noise made sleep impossible. The front-desk staff were unfriendly and unhelpful, with no apparent willingness to assist or be flexible. Poor service, excessive noise, a bad location and misleading photos. There are much better options in Athens.
We were booked for three nights, but after a sleepless first night we told reception in the morning that we couldn’t stay in those conditions and asked to leave with a refund for the remaining nights. The receptionist said management had been contacted and we were allowed to go. We trusted that, checked out and found another hotel. Three hours later, they called to say they wouldn’t refund us. Stella told us things like, “You shouldn’t have left.” We had no real option to stay, and that response was rude and unprofessional. We were told to leave and that they would handle it, then they denied it later. We were clearly misled. Noise made sleep impossible. Bars nearby went on until 5 a.m., then came the steady sounds of people, motorcycles, cars and vans. Guests in the room above added to it. There is absolutely no soundproofing, so noise from outside and other rooms feels like it’s right inside your own. During the night, when I said I wanted to call the police, a staff member replied, “We’ve done that many times. Do you really think it will work?” That makes it seem they know about the problem and choose not to deal with it. This seems to be ongoing. The hotel didn’t appear as full as they claimed, which makes me think lots of guests leave after one night. This was by far my worst hotel experience. If you want sleep, support as a guest and trust in the management, avoid this place.
Everything’s been amazing both times I’ve stayed here. The rooms are clean and tidy, and Mr George at reception is so helpful and wonderful. The area works well for families or couples. I’ve already booked my next visit.
