Bohemian Suites Athens - Maison Hotel Adults Only

This was my third visit to Bohemian Suites, and I keep coming back because each stay has been better than I expected. The rooms are spacious, with lovely decor and carefully matched colors, and the bathrooms are especially roomy and well laid out. Its central setting is convenient without being noisy. Taxis are easy to find, cafés and restaurants are only a short walk away, and the nicer shops and department stores are about ten minutes on foot. The reception staff make you feel welcome and valued, and they pay attention to how they can improve your stay. For a boutique hotel, Bohemian Suites is hard for me to beat.

I called to ask about booking a large room for two adults and our very young child. The receptionist and manager told me that once a child is over two, hotel policy requires them to sleep in a separate room, not a connecting room. They said the hotel welcomes children and is family friendly, but still wouldn't make an exception when I explained that our travel bed would fit easily in the room. I don't usually take the time to post negative reviews, but calling a place family friendly while requiring even a toddler to have their own room seems ridiculous. We hadn't stayed there, and this was a terrible first impression. I hope the rest of our time in Athens goes better.

The rooms don't look like the photos, which I found misleading. Avoid this place. The owner tried to evict me after I refused to pay hidden charges, then wouldn't refund me for the unused night. I had to get the police involved to recover my money. The staff were extremely rude, manipulative, and intimidating. If this had happened outside Greece, I believe they would have faced consequences for trying to evict a guest who had paid in full.

We had a pleasant stay, but the bright exit sign in the room kept disturbing our sleep. They covered it with cardboard after the first night, yet it still bothered us for the next two. They need a more lasting fix. Carrying large luggage up to the first floor was also difficult, so a lift would help.
