The room was clean and the staff were friendly, but that’s where the positives stopped. The neighborhood made us fear for our safety and health. The reviewer says a drug-infested ghetto is just 50 meters from the door, and suggests Googling “Ierotheou Athens” or the street to find articles about drug users and unstable people nearby. It was a frightening experience. On our last night before the flight, a man screamed at the top of his lungs in the street all night, likely high on something. Breakfast was poor: one boiled egg, a plain cheese sandwich, a store-bought croissant, and tea or coffee per person. My sincere advice is to pay a little more for a hotel in a better location, research the neighborhood, and choose somewhere safe. Don’t make my mistake.

The rooms were bright, spacious, clean, and the beds were really comfortable. We rented two, and the online reception was available around the clock on WhatsApp, always friendly and helpful. The woman with short black hair, who I think is the owner, was lovely and brought us breakfast. I liked the croissants, coffee, and eggs, and you can toast a sandwich so the cheese melts. Some people complain that breakfast repeats, but plenty of hotel buffets do that. The location warnings are worth keeping in mind, though they don't reflect the room service. In many cities, including Istanbul, Vietnam, Thailand, Latin America, and places like NYC and Detroit, you just need to stay alert and walk confidently. I really don't know why some reviews gave this place fewer points, because my stay was perfectly fine.

A pleasant place at a low price.

The room wasn't looked after during our week: no one took the rubbish out, and the towels were dirty. Breakfast was the same every day, served on one plate for two people. The woman brought it at 9 in the morning, though service was supposed to run until 10. By then everything had already been cleared away. The coffee was instant, too. I've never had a worse stay, and I'm unhappy with the experience. The neighborhood was filthy as well.

At 23 euros in Athens, this can work for a quick getaway. There are plenty of places to stay, but we chose a short escape. Here are some walks and places to eat or drink from my other posts. In Psyrri Square, try the burgers, Zoumbourlou sweets, Agiou Dimitriou 12, or the food in the courtyard at A Orange, where you can eat well and cheaply. Sophocleous 47 has what I think is a unique falafel. For Filipino food, there's Sento ocho bar at Kleitiou 8, on the pedestrian street near Syntagma, and Floor carpet near Ippokrateio hospital on Michalakopoulos. Another walk goes by the Temple of the goddess luck in Mets, Hill of Mets, Arditto Street, and the continuation of Kalliroi, before Kallimarmaro. Go up where a flows avenue, across from the pool, and take the steps for free. The Columns of Olympius Dios are unique. Lefteris the citizen on Satomvriadou has unique souvlaki. You can also head to Plaka, Monastiraki, Kolonaki, Acropolis, Ambelokipoi, Exarchia, or Pangati. Thank you.
