One detail that gives the hotel a special feel is the lobby, where ruins of an ancient Roman wine distillery were uncovered during construction. The natural stone and wood throughout also reflect the Coco-mat brand’s design philosophy. History is right outside too: the hotel sits across from the Acropolis Museum, within an easy walk of the Parthenon, Plaka district and Monastiraki. Food is another highlight. The breakfast buffet has plenty to choose from, including Greek favourites like koulouri, fresh orange juice and eggs made to order. There’s also a rooftop restaurant and bar with striking, unobstructed views of the Parthenon, a lovely place for a sunset cocktail or a Mediterranean dinner.

The staff are what made this hotel stand out. Everyone was kind, helpful and professional, and Katrina on the evening reception shift deserves a special mention. Her restaurant suggestions were all excellent, and she even booked tables for us, which made things so easy. If you want food tips, ask for her. Breakfast was amazing too, and the coffee was smooth and creamy. The location is a big plus, right by the Acropolis and within walking distance of all the main sights. I’d absolutely stay again.

I planned to stay in Athens for one week, but ended up staying two and a half. With so many places to choose from, it was the hotel team that made me want to remain there. They made me feel welcome from day one, and their warmth and attention helped the long stay feel easy and personal. I felt seen, supported and at ease, and Athens started to feel like home. I’d gladly return and recommend the hotel to anyone looking for gracious Greek hospitality. The front desk team, Vasilis, Areti, Krisa, Cosmas, Orfeas, Stavrianna, Katerina, Emmanouil, and Stella, along with doormen Alexandros, Xristoforos, Nikos, Alexandros, Ilias, Giorgos S., Giorgos K. and Apostolos, were consistently helpful with logistics and local recommendations. They greeted me warmly and professionally every day, and opened the hotel’s huge door for me each time. Breakfast became a familiar ritual thanks to restaurant staff Alexandra, Vasilis, Paul, Kostas, Stella, Penny and Iphigenia. They remembered my preferences, made time for a friendly word, and brought efficiency and real warmth to the service. The F&B team served delicious choices every day, and I miss my kagianas. Thanks as well to the housekeeping team for keeping my room clean and tidy. Restful sleep helped me focus on my daytime assignments.

The spa was next level, and I’d travel back just for that. My stay was comfortable, quiet and clean, with a great location near the Acropolis and a short walk from Plaka Street. The staff were professional, friendly and truly committed to making things great. It was an unforgettable visit, and I loved it. Thanks, everyone.
