Electra Palace Athens Hotel

I regret spending around €3,000 for four nights here, and I wouldn’t come back. The hotel is central and the lobby looks nice, but that was the only positive for me. The rooms were extremely noisy. We woke at least ten times every night because sound carried so clearly, even a cough from the next room. For this price, the hotel felt poorly maintained and not worth it. The furniture seemed heavily used, the cleanliness disappointed us, and the place didn’t feel hygienic. The rooms were very small for what they cost, and the bathroom was tiny too. My husband could barely move in it, and one of us had to leave so the other could get in comfortably. At this price point, I’d much rather stay a little outside the city in a cleaner, quieter, better-maintained hotel with proper service.

We booked this for the last couple of days of our honeymoon in Athens, and I couldn’t have been happier with the stay. The service was incredible, especially from George at the counter. Our room had a beautiful view, and the rooftop restaurant served amazing food with an incredible view too. If I could give it 10 stars, I would. We’ll definitely stay here again next time we visit Athens.

The rooftop restaurant was a highlight, with a striking Acropolis view that looked great in daylight and after dark. Breakfast had plenty to choose from, the cocktails were excellent, and the restaurant recommendations from reception were all spot on. The hotel itself is lovely and well kept, with daily room cleaning and room service in the morning and evening. Its central location made getting around easy, and we were very happy with our stay. One thing to keep in mind is the street noise. Traffic, motorcycles, horns, and people calling out carried on day and night, sometimes into the early morning. I’d ask for a room away from the street if you’re a light sleeper.

The rooftop breakfast comes with a great Acropolis view, and the rooms were nice. Service was good, too, and the location is very central. The problem was the bill: we stayed four nights but were charged for five, so I now have to request a refund. If that comes through, I may raise my rating a little.
