Evripides Hotel

The location worked perfectly for me. The hotel is at the edge of the action, close enough to reach the station and everything else in a few minutes on foot, but far enough back to avoid most of the noise and commotion. I liked the neighbourhood’s real, imperfect character. The city’s difficult history is visible in its ruined buildings, graffiti, and construction. I enjoy photographing places with character, and this area is lively, with lots going on alongside those marks of the past. There are great restaurants, clubs, cafés, and plenty to explore. I was skeptical when we arrived because reception looked so old, like it hadn’t changed since the 60s. But up the lift, the room corridor and rooms were newly renovated. The rooms were clean, modern, and comfortable, and the bathroom was a highlight. If you care about a good shower, it’s a 10/10. We stayed twice, which says plenty about how much we liked it. Breakfast was another pleasant surprise. We’ve paid much more at so-called four-star hotels around Europe, including this summer, and had far worse breakfasts. This one was simple but genuinely delicious. And “The View” really is something: coffee in the morning with the Acropolis in front of you feels like sitting in a postcard. Skip the little corridor tables. For me, the best view is on the right as you enter the restaurant IS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!

Getting around is easy from this spot, a short walk from Monastiraki metro, with trains to the airport and Piraeus port. The entrance doesn’t look like much, but the rooms are clean and modern, and the air conditioning works well. Breakfast was good, and there’s a simple rooftop terrace where you can relax with a beer and a nice Acropolis view. We asked for a superior room and got an emperor-size bed.

The rooftop bar had great cocktails and a lovely view, and the room itself looked out over the Acropolis. It was modern and comfortable, beautifully renovated. I also liked that they kept original touches like the entrance and vintage elevator. Those features gave the place a charming contrast. A really nice blend of history, style, and somewhere to relax.

We had cocktails on the rooftop after 6 pm, with the Acropolis right there in the view. The breakfast was great, too. Such a good location, and everyone we met was friendly and ready to help. Highly recommend it.
