Fos DownTown Suites

The room was spacious and comfortable, just as I hoped. There was a little music coming through even with the windows closed, which makes sense given how lively the area is. I stayed at Fos DownTown Suites for my Athens birthday trip, and it was a pleasant experience. Special thanks to Vasilis for handling restaurant reservations and helping me find a patisserie for my birthday cake.

The central location would be nice if you don't need to drive, but there's no parking right by the hotel. There's a pricey garage nearby, and getting to it through busy one-way streets can be a challenge. They also had no luggage storage available after checkout. What really ruined my stay was the noise. A bar right beside the hotel plays loud music until at least 1 a.m., later on weekends, and the poor windows let it carry into the small street between the buildings. If you want peace and sleep before 2 a.m., don't book here. When I asked the service desk around 11 p.m. if the noise was normal or if I could switch rooms, they replied without a hint of irony that there were earplugs in my room. Better windows could make this a nice stay.

The music from the bar downstairs does come through the closed windows. The hotel provides earplugs, and I didn't find it as bothersome as some other reviewers describe, but light sleepers may have trouble. Otherwise, the hotel is great: recently renovated, clean, spacious rooms, friendly and helpful receptionists, and an excellent central location, five minutes on foot from Syntagma square and near plenty of nice bars and restaurants. I stayed three nights in December 2023.

The staff were flexible, sincere, and kind. The clean rooms are well appointed, and it's a great little base for Athens!
