Hotel Diethnes

We had a little balcony with a nice view, and the beds were comfortable. The place was clean and the staff friendly, though for three of us there was only one medium towel and two face towels. We could add breakfast, a simple but good buffet on a pleasant rooftop. There was no TV remote. For an August stay, it was a good deal and worth it.

I’d seen a lot of complaints about reception, but none matched what I experienced. Check-in was quick and easy, and the night desk guy was courteous and helpful. The room was a clean, standard budget room, with a comfortable bed, plenty of hot water, and good pressure. The area isn’t the best, but this isn’t a destination hotel or spa.

The room still wasn’t ready 2 hours after check-in time, so after a 14-hour trip I had to wait another 25 minutes. The AC didn’t work, though luckily it wasn’t too hot outside. I wouldn’t pay extra for breakfast, either. All I managed to get was 2 boiled eggs. The neighborhood was terrible. I live in Greece and have never seen a place that nasty.

We were a family of 5 and needed a room in an emergency. They first quoted us 60 euros, then raised it to 81.5 euros once we said we’d take it. The room was awful, unclean, and had a strange smell. The old air-conditioning didn’t work, and the toilet bin had paper towels with people’s waste in it. One of the worst experiences I’ve had. I wouldn’t recommend it.
