Hotel Feron

The people were friendly, including the staff and the mostly Arabic-speaking guests, and I felt the surrounding Muslim immigrant neighborhood was nice and safe. The hotel itself is a different story: people smoke throughout the building, including in the reception and TV room, where the Wi-Fi works. Rooms feel old, and the doors and bathrooms keep having problems.

The beds were clean and comfortable enough to sleep in, so it was manageable for one night. But the bathroom let the place down: I got cold showers morning and night, and there was only a shower base and hose head. I ended up crouching there to wash in cold water. There are plenty of other gems in the city, so I was pretty disappointed, even if the stay matched what other reviews say.

The sheets smelled like sh#t, and the hostel was old and dirty. I felt in danger whenever I walked around the awful neighborhood. I’m usually easygoing, but this was the worst hostel experience I’ve had.

I stayed for 20 days and had a nice time. The rooms were comfortable, the price was low, and the staff were lovely. They’d clean the room whenever I asked. The neighborhood was quiet and wasn’t what people make it out to be. It’s about a 10-minute walk to central Athens and close to the metro. A great fit for students or younger travelers.
