Iconic Athens Hostel

The staff were friendly and professional, but the hotel itself was awful. The walls were gray and black, the kitchen was dirty, and the bathrooms barely had any equipment. At night, loud music came from the strip club downstairs, and there were mosquitoes everywhere. Breakfast was the worst I've had in a hostel, with stale jam, disgusting margaritas, and too little cold coffee. For this price, the value is terrible. There are much better options in Athens.

I don't stay in hostels much, but my travel plans meant I needed one in Athens. The place had a lively, positive feel, and it was easy to meet people in the common room, which also serves as reception. Everyone I met seemed happy there. The staff I spoke with, all three of them, were helpful and supportive. Breakfast was included, with coffee, tea, orange juice, milk, cereal, bread and toast, cake, honey, ham, cheese, and eggs. That was plenty for me. My bed was clean, and the privacy curtains enclosed the whole cubicle. I stayed five nights and asked for fresh towels and bedding after three, which they provided without any problem. The bathrooms are in the room, with extra toilets near the common room. Laundry cost 5 Euros per bag and was ready in four hours. The Metro is only 100 metres away. There are a few bars nearby, so it can be noisy at night, though I was out enjoying myself about half the time anyway. I was surprised by some of the negative reviews. I'd recommend ICONIC if you're coming to Athens. 😊😊😊

Aside from this, the place could be nice, which makes it a shame. But I've never seen so many bed bugs. After getting into bed, I waited a few minutes, switched on my flashlight, and saw them crawling across the walls and bed. I killed about 20 before realizing there was no point. I tried to sleep in the lounge instead and couldn't get any rest there either.

We booked in Athens at the last minute and were pleasantly surprised by our choice. For the price, Iconic is a great option. There was a good breakfast spread every morning, and the terrace had a nice vibe. It's in a cool neighborhood where the bars stay open late, but we slept like babies. Just bring earplugs. The woman at reception was friendly and helpful, with suggestions for places to visit around Athens. The rest of the team were just as accommodating, and reception is staffed around the clock. We could also leave our bags in storage for the day, which was a bonus. I'd recommend it to backpackers and anyone on a budget. I saw previous reviews mentioning bedbugs, and measures are in place to prevent and control the issue.
