I wouldn’t recommend this place, despite what the Booking.com and Google reviews suggest. The location was okay, and the room was more or less clean, but there were several serious downsides. The bathroom smelled moldy and the toilet brush was dirty. Missing fire extinguishers in the corridor were another concern. The bed was awful. The mattress made noise with every small movement, waking either my partner or me. I usually sleep well, but two nights was my limit. Next time, I’d pay EUR 50 more per night for a better bed. The AC, room fridge, and fuse box were also too loud. The window looked onto an enclosed space with five noisy AC units, which churned pigeon feathers up against the mosquito net. Opening it felt unsafe.
We had a frustrating stay at Limehome Athens from the start. The apartment was noisy day and night, with street sounds and noise from nearby buildings in this busy university area. Sleeping well was out of the question. The entrance door’s automatic lock didn’t work properly. We had to leave our belongings inside while it wouldn’t lock, and at night we slept with a chair braced against the door because we didn’t feel safe. The bathroom toilet flush leaked and ran all night on our first night, so we couldn’t rest. The hairdryer only blew cold air and was useless. There wasn’t even a complimentary bottle of water when we arrived, which felt like poor hospitality for a place claiming a premium experience. Customer service was another problem. WhatsApp was the only way to contact them, and replies came at their own pace. Calling the support number, which supposedly offers several languages, always ended with them switching us back to English. Each time, we had to explain the issue all over again. That was especially frustrating in an emergency. The place felt poorly maintained, insecure, and badly managed. It was one of the worst stays I’ve had, and I strongly advise against it.
I booked this hotel on Booking, then they asked me to send a selfie and wouldn’t let me in without one. I feel uncomfortable about this, and I believe it violates Article 9 of the EU GDPR.
Putting four air conditioners close to the sleeping room is a clever idea, apparently. It made sleeping impossible. You can find a better place for less.
The terrace made this little studio work so well for me. I spent quite a bit of time out there having coffee in the sun, and hardly stayed inside in sunny Athens. I was there for three nights during my holiday, in this German apartment chain’s property, about 5-10 minutes from Panemistimio Station. It’s not right in the center, but most places, including lots of tourist attractions, are walkable. I chose a studio with an extra sized single bed and a terrace. The indoor area was small, though modern, with the appliances and kitchenette I needed. If you’re okay with limited space inside, it’s just right for a solo traveler.
