Monastiraki Place

For $80, I can't really complain. I was there for one night after getting off my cruise in Athens, and the host kindly let me into the room early so I could unpack. The entrance was confusing to find and didn't look great from outside, but inside the apartment building was nicely furnished and satisfactory. Most of the things you'd want to see in Athens are within walking distance.

The space was great, we liked the location, and the owner was nice. The shared corridor serves several apartments, though, so you hear people coming back late. Some drunk, loud neighbors woke us up in the middle of the night. Still, we'd definitely come back.

The rooms were amazing and the staff were friendly and easy to reach by phone. The entrance looks pretty rough from outside, but you're right in the center, close to tourist sights, the train station, and the market. I had a very satisfactory stay.

Getting there is very convenient: take the M3 metro from the airport, then it's under a five-minute walk. That's the high point, though. Nearby bars make it noisy at night, and the place itself is only so-so. The shower door was missing, there were just four hangers for two people, one light didn't work, and the room stayed dim even with the other lights on. The Wi-Fi was down on our last morning, and they thought it was a router issue.
