For a couple’s city break, this apartment is comfortable and well located, though the elevator trouble was the biggest downside. One lift was out for most of our stay, and at one point both were unavailable. We had to climb seven steep flights in the heat, which was far from ideal. Most main sights are within a 25-minute walk, while shops and restaurants are no more than five minutes away. The building is at the edge of a neighborhood that several tour guides called “good enough.” There’s graffiti around the area and on the apartment entrance, which might make it seem rough at first. During the day it felt about as safe as the rest of Athens, but we weren’t out late, so I can’t speak to the evenings or nights. The terrace is lovely, with full sun in the morning and some sun around midday. The living room and bedroom are roomy enough, the kitchen is tiny, and there’s a sofa bed that might be cramped for extra guests. The apartment has what two people need for a weekend, including good air conditioning and insulation. We returned to a cool space after being out all day without leaving the aircon on. There’s a restaurant across the street that sometimes plays music, and street noise is generally limited. Still, light sleepers may want another option because a constant nighttime sound, a bit like a dishwasher running, continued even with the air conditioning off. We never figured out where it came from. The kitchen could use a few more glasses and pieces of cutlery.

On arrival, we were sent to a flat that already had other guests’ luggage and belongings inside. We had to leave right away and find somewhere else, paying extra out of pocket. The owner never told us that this was the wrong apartment. Only after I raised it with Booking did she claim we had “entered the apartment ourselves,” which is untrue. She refused to refund us despite Booking’s efforts to mediate. The whole ordeal was stressful and highly unprofessional. I felt misled and scammed, and strongly advise against booking here. For your safety and peace of mind, avoid this property. I’ve attached photos as a warning to other travelers.

A few steps from the front door are a fruit and vegetable market, plus a fish and meat market. Nearby specialty shops sell spices, meat, cold cuts, and cheese. The apartment is centrally located, with most places a short walk away, and the large terrace has a nice view across part of Athens. Inside it seemed clean, modern, and practical. The host replied immediately on Whatsapp and sorted out our questions and any problems. The neighborhood has graffiti everywhere and busy, narrow streets full of people, cars, and mopeds, so it looks rough. We weren’t out late and can’t say how safe it is at night, but in daytime it felt as “safe” as the rest of Athens. There’s a normal-height railing on the terrace, but it’s a long way down, so with small children you may need to keep an extra eye on them. We got only one key, attached to a chip that has to stay in the apartment for the electricity to work. That made coordinating tricky if some of us wanted to leave early while others slept. We didn’t ask for another key, so perhaps that could have been sorted out. We recommend the apartment for families, couples, and friends.

The apartment is clean, beautifully decorated, and has a great terrace in what I think is the best part of Athens. My only comments are about the building itself: the entrance needs cleaning, and the elevator is a bit scary, ngl.

There’s no heating system, and the landlord is very rude and unsympathetic. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place.
