New Times Home&Hotel

The apartment had a huge balcony with clotheslines and clothespins, so we could hang things up to dry quickly. There were two balcony doors, which made it easy to air out the room, and the elevator was a welcome help in the heat when we didn’t want to use the stairs. The room was clean, nice, and a good fit for two. A few little things bothered us: the air conditioner didn’t work very well, there was a strange smell from the bathroom, and the ceiling paint was cracking.

OVERBOOKING AND LAST MINUTE CANCELATION. I booked the room for three days, four months ahead, for a concert I was attending. When I called on the morning of the reservation to ask how to get to the room, a very rude man told me the kitchen had caught fire and I couldn’t stay there. When I asked for compensation, he said he’d done nothing wrong and was just returning my money. But Booking told me the owner had reported an overbooking, with no damage reported to the premises. Unprofessional, petty owner, and an unreliable host who lied. STAY AWAY!

SCAM. We never got an entry code or any information, nobody was there, and the phone number didn’t exist. A woman who lived on the same street told us there was no hotel at that address. We had to go to a different hotel. DO NOT BOOK HERE.

A warning specifically for women. We booked a room in this building, but its lock was damaged and we couldn’t unlock the door all night. We kept asking the owner for help, but he refused, saying we were Indians and didn’t know how to unlock a door. A resident tried to help us, but he yelled at her and told her not to help the “Indians”. The racism and concerns about women’s safety were awful. We even have a recording, but the whole incident was horrible. We had a ferry the next day, and our night was miserable.
