Nicola Hotel

I agree with another reviewer who said the hotel is on a dirty side street, that the older male manager or owner is not pleasant at all, and that the woman who worked days was pleasant and helpful. The guy creates an atmosphere like he’s doing you a favor by letting you stay at his hotel. Anti hospitality.

The room is dated, but there’s nothing wrong with it, and it’s very nice indeed. The hotel is basic, fairly lovely, and spotless. The location is perfect for me because my wife is in a hospital less than 900 metres away. The staff are great and very helpful.

Getting through the stay was a nightmare from arrival to departure, and we ended up paying for an Airbnb instead. The website and the information sent to tour operators need updating. There was no sun terrace at all, the rooms were very dated, and the toilet had a hole in the floor and wouldn't flush. The lift didn't feel secure either. I wouldn't recommend Hotel Nicola to anyone.

The little private patio was my favorite place to unwind, and the room was a good size. There was also a safe locker and the internet was very fast. The hotel has its own character, and you can feel how much the owner cares about making guests comfortable. It's clean, and the staff are friendly. Breakfast is simple: sausage, scrambled eggs, different breads, jams, fresh juice, and coffee. It filled me up, so I was happy with it. If you want more choice, you can pay more for a pricier hotel and extra cheese. I chose this place and was glad to have what it offered. The Acropolis, Plaka, and Monastriki are about 10 minutes away, and an Uber cost around 6 euros. My stay was really satisfying. I'd recommend it to travelers who aren't fussy and want an inexpensive, comfortable place in Athens.
