Novus City Hotel

The breakfast was amazing, with a huge spread that even included honey straight from the honeycomb. The rooms were comfortable, and the hotel has a bar, restaurant, and small but nice pool. There’s also a view of the Acropolis at night, and the cappuccinos were great. I wasn’t sure about the hotel at first, but it turned out to be a good choice. The staff were friendly and it was great value. The metro is within walking distance, and it’s four stops to the Acropolis. Two euros gets you two rides.

The rooftop pool was outstanding, and the view from up there was even better. After a long day, it was also nice to have the option to log into Netflix in the room. I’ve stayed here twice already and am planning to come back next year. The food was delicious, better than anything I ate in Rome. And the staff made the place feel more like visiting longtime friends than dealing with hotel employees. They treated me with so much kindness and respect. Best hotel I’ve ever been to!

The neighborhood was the ugly part for me. The side alleys had litter, homelessness, and people caught up in vice and substance abuse. The hotel is near a metro station, has a small rooftop pool, and there are some good things nearby. The staff, from servers to cleaners, did their very best and showed the friendly care the Greeks seem to excel at. The staff were the highlight of our stay. They were wonderful, and we often ended our nights at the rooftop lounge because they were such fun to be around. The food was good and reasonably priced. We’ll miss them. Still, this doesn’t feel like a four-star hotel now. Maybe it did twenty years ago. The beds are uncomfortable, the bathrooms are very good, but the rest of the place feels like it’s seen better days.

The view of the Acropolis from the eighth-floor bar was fabulous, and it was a manageable walk to things. But the service there was inconsistent, and one night I was completely ignored. I also had noise all night, and the bed felt more like a box spring. My room key never worked properly during my six-day stay. There was a large homeless and drug population around the corner too.
